May 23: (minutes)
In attendance:
Patrick, Sherri, Vicente, JJ, Gordo, Rob, Jeremy, Matt
Discussion and Decisions:
1. Upcoming Tournaments:
Glow tourney: TD: Gordo, Friday, June 8, 9:00 PM
Fathers Day Fling: TD: Sherri, Saturday, June 16; 2 rounds of 27
Weekly Tournaments: All TDs should have at least a few discs to give to first-time newbies.
Doubles formats on Sat. or Thur. might vary from Best Shot to Play your Partners Disc or Worst Shot. (decision is up to TD)
Sunday singles: $1 collected for the ace pot, top third cash payout with the last place getting their money back.
2. Course issues:
Hole 3: In all play, the sidewalk and grass to the left of the grass and the road are OB. In other words, the right edge of the sidewalk is the OB line. This should encourage players to try even harder to stay to the right, away from Broadway.
Current Hole 6: Some signs may be needed to encourage park users to be aware of Disc Golfers. (Patrick is working on the signs)
Current Hole 7: Another placement needs to be put in to take advantage of dog-leg.
Current Hole 16: Another placent needs to be put in. Elevated berm?
Current Hole 9: (Burial Mound) Replacing bumpers on side of mound to keep discs from rolling into water. Another placement needed.
3. Course configurations: Most members present agreed that specific course configurations would be advantageous for several reasons. Four configurations were agreed upon:
A. Short, Medium, Long (White on the score card)
B. Medium, Long, Short (Light Gray on the score card)
C. Long, Short, Medium (Dark gray or Black on the score card)
D. All Long (bottom row on the score card)
Starting June 1, the baskets will be moved to # 3 (Black on score card) and they will remain there until Aug. 1 (60 days)
Three options were discussed at length for what to do about the course layout between hole 5, 6, 7, 8a(bridge) and 8b(cliff)
Three options were determined to be possible:
A. keep hole 5, remove hole 8b(cliff)
B. remove hole 5, keep hole 8b(cliff)
C. remove hole 6, keep hole 5
Voting by members present: 6 votes for option B, 2 votes for option A
On June 1, hole 5 basket will be moved to hole 8b (cliff). Hole 6 will be renumbered (hole 5), hole 7 will be renumbered (hole 6), hole 8a will be renumbered (hole 7) and hole 8b will be renumbered (hole 8).
This will be the layout for 60 days, after which an evaluation will take place to determine if further adjustments should be made.
Future back course plans: A committee will start looking at options this summer.
Visit with Matt if you want to serve on the committee.
3. Members were reminded to report scores for the Bag Tag Challenge. Members were reminded that once they had ten scores reported, only the top ten would be used to calculate their average.
4. Next meeting: July (exact date and place to be determined)
